Air Conditioner / Air handler replacement – 2 Ton Unit?
I was quoted a price today of 4300.00 to replace the outside compressor (leaked 5 pounds of refrigerant in 3 days) and the air handler unit under the house (I guess to match the compressor). Electrical and ductwork will all be reused. They are installing a Goodman 2 ton unit (13 Seer rating).
Does this seem like a reasonable price for a turnkey installation?
Get more quotes. Find out just what is leaking, could be just a bad copper line or solder joint.
Goodman is the bottom line in the HVAC industry (cheapest stuff out there) and you will get what you pay for!
Check out the company with the BBB and ask for references.
Get a quote for Rheem or Ruud equipment, a lot better quality stuff.
